Forex Developing TV Version Of Web Series Broad City With Amy Poehler Creating
EXCLUSIVE: Forex has teamed with Amy Poehler to create cult Web series Broad City to television. Poehler will executive produce the television series adaptation from the Web comedy produced by and starring Upright People Brigade alumnae Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. Jacobson and Glazer are going to write and star within the half-hour Forex project, that has received a script commitment in the network. It focuses on the Manhattan (and Brooklyn) misadventures of 20-something female close friends, performed by Jacobson and Glazer. UCB co-founder Poehler’s relationship with Jacobson and Glazer dates back for their days together in the famous improv theater. The Saturday Evening Live alumna is keen on Broad City and it has made an appearance inside it (see trailer below), which brought to her curiosity about using the show to television. Poeler, Jacobson and Glazer, all repped by WME, will executive produce the Forex project with Poehler’s manager, 3 Arts’ Dork Becky, and Jacobson and Glazer’s manager Samantha Saifer. Nancy Pimenthal is aboard as supervisory producer. Forex continues to be strongly creating a slate of offbeat comedies by using it’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The League, Louie and Wilfred. Broad City would mark the network’s first comedy series with female leads and all sorts of-female designers. Four-time Emmy nominee Poehler, who stars on NBCs Parks and Entertainment, received this year's Variety Energy of Comedy Award last week.
